Christmas Hills

Christmas Hills is located in the Shire of Nillumbik and close to Yering, Kangaroo Ground, Yarra Glen, Panton Hill, Dixons Creek and Wonga Park.

Christmas Hills is located between Kangaroo Ground and Yarra Glen, along Eltham-Yarra Glen Road north of the Yarra River. In 1904, the Australian Handbook described Christmas Hills as “an excellent health resort” and it’s still an appropriate description as here you’ll find plenty of ways to get out and explore nature with parks, horseback riding and bushwalking areas all easily available.

Tucked away in Christmas Hills, Sugarloaf Reservoir is a tranquil and scenic setting for a picnic or a stroll along the reservoir shores. It’s also a popular spot for fishing, sailing and groups laying out a big picnic blanket o enjoy an afternoon out. If you’re feeling energetic, there is a 15km walk that circumnavigates the reservoir or the shorter Ironbark and Chris Phillips Walk.

The iconic Yarra Valley Trails, previously known as Ponyland, offers fabulous experiences just out of Melbourne. This picturesque 300-acre property has an abundance of wildlife and rides to suit all levels of experience with trail rides, pony rides, children’s holiday programs, residential camps and weekend clubs all available to be enjoyed.
