Marian Rennie Exhibition

I began painting as a little girl when my mother bought me a boxed set of paints so I could complete sketches on the kitchen table. That was nearly 60 years ago and I’ve explored painting with various media ever since, including working with textiles, costume making and designing with Rose Chong in the ’80s, designing sets for Australian series, including Rubbery Figures, and many other facets of visual arts.

As a self-employed artist, the onset of Covid and its consequences these last two years has enabled me to take a different approach. After so many years at the easel and with many local and international exhibitions behind and in front of me, I decided to delve into the depths of my archives.

What’s presented here today are a few pieces that I had not completed fully but with these Covid months, I have regained the time and enthusiasm to bring them back to life again.
