Food & Drink Breakout Session

Rethinking Food and Drink: From Good to Better.

This session focussed on the ways our region can position our food and beverage offerings to gain the attention of food media and culinary tourists. This section looked at how our region has grown in terms of award winning dining experiences and how we compare to other regions areas in terms of attracting culinary tourists.

It also included industry insight from two prominent food journalists Sofia Levin and Donna Demaio who addressed topics such as:

  • How authenticity and sticking to your strengths overrides celebrity chefs, 'Hats' and quirky 'hooks'
  • The importance of knowing your demographic to ensure you're investing in the right social media marketing rather than trying to do all platforms well
