Eltham and Hurstbridge Village is in the heart of rural Nillumbik, servicing the communities of Arthurs Creek, Cottles Bridge, Doreen, Kangaroo Ground, Nutfield, Panton Hill, St Andrews, Smiths Gully, Strathewen, Wattle Glen and Yarrambat.

Renowned for its green spaces, art community and family-friendly feel, it's just 19km north east of Melbourne and is a doorway to a densely treed region dubbed ‘the green wedge’ or ‘Melbourne’s lungs’.

The main street and shopping area meld city sophistication with country charm and feature several meeting spots for live entertainment and kid-friendly activities. The annual Jazz Festival is a staple for music lovers.

Enjoy boutique shopping, food, wine, song and exceptional customer service from passionate local traders. Eltham is a uniquely 'Yours, Mine and Our Kinda Town'.

In the 1940s, the artist colony of Montsalvat was established and it continues to be a popular destination for visitors, and a studio and gallery space for local and international artists-in-residence.

The area is home to an abundance of local native flora and fauna including several endangered species such as the Charming and the Rosella Spider Orchids, the Powerful Owl and Masked Owl, and the Eltham Copper butterfly. The township places high regard on environmental and sustainable practices and is the home of the early mudbrick house construction industry that has flourished today.

Eltham offers a wide range of recreational pursuits and children adore the popular Diamond Valley Miniature Railway in Eltham Lower Park and it is a gateway town to the wonderful wineries and accommodation that defines the Yarra Valley.

It is also home to a historic wooden railway trestle bridge, built in 1902, the only wooden trestle bridge still in use in Melbourne's electric railway network.
