Things to do with your Dog in the Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and surrounds

See & Do

Dog parents, never fear- we've done all the homework so you can enjoy a great day out with your four-legged bestie.

Here are 5 day trips to enjoy in the Yarra Valley & Dandenong Ranges with your dog:

1. A good day starts with a coffee and a cafe breakfast- our suggestion? Drop into My Little Kitchen Healesville. Latte with one and a puppuccino, please! Afterwards, explore Healesville, then head to Maroondah Reservoir Park, dog for a walk on a lead through the open parkland. Remember though, dogs aren't allowed on the forest walking tracks to the north of the Watts River, or on the Dam Wall itself. So stay within the park.

2. Have you even visited the Yarra Valley if you didn't drop by a cellar door or two? Pooches & Pinot offer a private wine tour service for you and your goodest dog. They'll create a bespoke itinerary just for you, make all the bookings, do all the planning and even pick you up from your front door – so on the day you can sit back, relax and enjoy your tour with your dog(s) sipping your way around the Yarra Valley with your pooch, tasting wine, gin, beer and cider. You'll get to see the place like a local and enjoy a beautiful walk where your dog can run off lead too.

3. Tired of the same dog park? Let your pooch off-leash and try one of the many off-leash parks in the Yarra Valley. New trees to pee on and new smells to sniff will keep tails wagging for a while.

OFF-LEASH DOG PARKS IN THE REGION INCLUDE:

  • Lillydale Lake
  • Lakeview Reserve
  • Mount Evelyn Aqueduct Trail Reserve
  • Kalorama Memorial Reserve
  • Seville Recreation Reserve
  • Wandin East Recreation Reserve
  • Yarra Glen Showgrounds
  • Belgrave Lake Park
  • Johns Hill Lookout Reserve
  • Coronation Park, Healesville
  • Don Road, Recreation Reserve
  • Wesburn Park Reserve
  • Alma Treloar Park, Cockatoo

4. Explore Emerald Lake Park, it is dog friendly and a must-visit in the Dandenong Ranges. Dogs must be on a leash, but there are plenty of walks to choose from. Try the Lake Nobelius Loop Track (easy), which takes about 15 minutes, or the Emerald-Cockatoo Multi-use trail (easy to moderate), which takes about 20 minutes to walk. Afterwards, head across the road to Incy Wincy. Incy Wincy is known for its super friendly service, fantastic dietary friendly food, and drinks. Pull up a stool at one of their outdoor tables and find out why the locals love it.
