The fabulous Open Cellars returns to Nillumbik in June.
Open Cellars is a much-loved regional wine event held twice each year, on the third weekend of June (Winter) and October (Spring). It offers visitors a rare opportunity to journey through the Nillumbik Hills discovering a collection of small, boutique wineries and meeting the passionate winemakers behind them in their own cellar doors.
Open Cellars showcases the depth, diversity and authenticity of this distinctive wine region.
Throughout the weekend, guests are invited to taste current releases alongside the occasional special or museum vintage, often poured by the winemakers themselves. Many wineries enhance the experience with seasonal menus and relaxed live music, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere across the region.
Open Cellars celebrates family-owned wineries, each with its own character and winemaking philosophy. Visitors can explore vineyards where grapes are hand‑picked and crafted on site using traditional methods, offering an intimate insight into small-scale, quality-focused winemaking. From bold reds to elegant whites, every stop tells a different story and reflects the care, craft and landscape that define the Nillumbik Hills.
