Silvan dam

Essentially a farming and growers area Silvan is home to some of the best quality fruits in Australia. Offering a range of farmgate and U-pick fruit farm experiences during the summer and frozen fruit other times of the year this is a vibrant hub of the regions food bowl. Chappies was the first U-Pick cherry and berry farm in Australia and still does a roaring trade from November – January. Blue Hills Berries and Cherries is another popular and very well established U-Pick farm in the area.

Silvan also hosts the now internationally popular Tesselaar Tulip Festival held in Spring time each year. This festival is an absolute blanket of colour as fields are filled with the brightly coloured tulips for all the guests to walk amongst and enjoy. A wonderful and eclectic mix of art, sculpture, music, food and entertainment are all provided throughout the two weeks it runs.

The Silvan Resevoir is set in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, and is an easy drive from Melbourne and ideal for a great day out. Featuring landscaped picnic areas and open lawns surrounded by an impressive eucalypt forest, this park is perfect for a picnic or barbecue. Try the Grey Gum Track walk for some fresh air and a good stretch of the legs.
