Yarra Junction gives you wonderful access to the banks of the Yarra River, stunning mountain ranges and hills that flank the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. In this section of the trail, there is a fabulous family recreation reserve and many opportunities to picnic, paddle in the water and barbecue for the whole family.
Yarra Junction is part of the Shire of Yarra Ranges and is close to suburbs including Launching Place, Warburton and Woori Yallock.
The Aquatic Centre has an indoor pool and gymnasium that is open all year around (except Christmas Day) and tennis courts available for hire. There is also a skate park and bike area.
The Upper Yarra Museum is open on Sundays from 10am to 4pm. It's the Old Railway Station so it sits right on the Rail Trail. The Museum’s greatest treasure is the restored Heritage Station built in 1888 at Lilydale and relocated to Yarra Junction in (circa) 1915. It is a delight; the fresh paint glistens and the new red oxide roof, chimney pot and finials all enhance your visit. There is also a working Blacksmith onsite.
Love markets? The Upper Yarra Community Market is on the second and fourth Sunday of each month. The Little Yarra Market at the local Steiner School is on the third Sunday of the month.
