Montrose is a thriving township situated at the start of the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road.
Mt Dandenong and Mt Corhanwarrabul stand majestically behind providing a stunning backdrop to this shopping area. Smaller shopping strips can also be found on neighbouring Leith Road and within a residential area on Stradbroke Road.
The Montrose Town Centre consists of a public library and a vibrant hall where workshops, concerts and stage performances are held utilising both local and visiting talent. The Montrose Town Centre is surrounded by landscaped gardens which feature a war memorial and Robert Riddett's cottage which was built nearby in 1877 and relocated to its present site. The Montrose Brickworks Heritage Trail extends through the gardens and pays homage to the town's only main industry in the 1920s - the brickworks. The bricks originally manufactured here have been used to create a series of educational signs along the trail.
Horse riding trails, parks, reserves and bicycle tracks are all present in Montrose making it perfect for a quick drive to escape the city and suburbs. For one of the best playground experiences you’ll ever find, Montrose Community Playground wins hands down! All this open space and the scenic mountain backdrop and you’re just at the gateway to all that the Dandenong Ranges has to offer.
