Lilydale is the gateway to both the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley. With a busy train line from Melbourne operating early until late it's an ultimately very accessible entrance to the region.

It's the start of the iconic Lilydale - Warburton Rail trail that journeys through the Yarra Valley between the Dandenong Ranges and the Great Dividing Ranges. The 38km recreation trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders follows the path of the historical railway line which was established in the 1900s to service the agricultural industry of the time

Lilydale is also home to the local Yarra Ranges Regional Museum that boosts stunning architectural design set in tranquil surroundings, and features exhibition spaces, programs for all ages and abilities, a resource library, a museum shop and cafe.

Spend a day at Lilydale Lake provides a top-class fully accessible playground with bbq facilities, shady picnic spots and walking tracks. At the lake, families love the Lilydale Splashpad (pictured below), especially in the warmer months when kids can splash and stay cool for free! The jets
are on from 1 November to the March Labour Day holiday each year

With a mix of new urban cafes and restaurants providing quality coffee, lunch and dinner experiences the foodies are well catered for from the very start of their visit.

Perfect for that weekend escape, why not stay in Lilydale and enjoy all that it has to offer. Visit our Yarra Valley Accommodation page to find accommodation that suits your need.
