Getting the kids off screens, out and about doesn’t need to be expensive. The Warburton Valley has so many things to do that are free for families – and fun.

We are blessed with many natural assets in the Warburton Valley that are easy to access and free of charge. Children are genuinely free in the Warburton Valley – free to explore, stretch their legs, and enjoy quality time out with their families.

Here are our top free activities in the Warburton Valley:

Walk in the trees at the Rainforest Gallery – the elevated walk is a seriously memorable occasion that your family will talk about forever.
Discover the magical pathways in the Redwood Forest – take a picnic and enjoy a great day amid the tall trees.
Take a bike ride along the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail and stop for ice cream in one of the towns along the way.
Swim in the Yarra River and enjoy hours of fun whether you’re paddling on the edge, feeding the ducks (peas are better for them than bread, please), swimming or taking your lilo down the ‘rapids’. Have a picnic too!.
Walk to a waterfall – La La Falls is a beautiful walk along the forest track to the falls. What wildlife will you spot along the way
Check out the beautiful Ada Tree, one of Victoria's largest trees and it's more than 300 years old. The walk is an easy 3.2km, 1.5 hour walk return trip from the car park and picnic area to the Ada Tree and back again.
Active from the end of September to the end of April, check out Warburton Water World, our region's latest water park. Located adjacent to the Warburton Holiday Park on the banks of the Yarra River, this playspace and recreation area features not just the water play park with plenty of splash areas and a giant drenching bucket, but picnic facilities, bathroom facilities and more.
