Narbethong

Even though Narbethong is just under a two-hour drive from Melbourne, it feels like a world away. It is part of the Shire of Murrindindi and is close to suburbs including Healesville, Marysville and Toolangi.

From Healesville, arrive via the spectacular drive through the stunning Black Spur, one of Victoria's most scenic drives. This 27km stretch of road will have you winding through lush green ferns and a towering ancient forest.

Once you arrive, it's only ten minutes up the road to Marysville and Buxton. Narbethong might feel far from home but in the most relaxing way possible. It’s close to plenty of natural attractions the whole family will enjoy such as horseback riding, ample opportunities for hiking and bushwalking and day spas.

Narbethong was first settled by Europeans in about 1865 by Frederick Fisher. Fisher built a 12-room hotel, the Black Spur Inn, on the road which was being built to link Melbourne with the new goldfield at Woods Point. The Black Spur Inn still stands to this day and provides many travellers with a comfy place to stop and rest or grab a meal when exploring this area.

It's often the place day-trippers collect their snow play and ski hire needs before hitting the slopes. Whilst here, enjoy the Yarra Ranges National Park on foot or via mountain bike, take in the fresh air and enjoy the scenic drive.

If it's a total retreat into nature you're after - this is the perfect place to find yourself.
